Two Brothers Divide Their Shares in Two Houses

On October 9, AD 108, two brothers at Soknopaiou Nesos agreed on a division involving their shares in two houses. Each brother’s interest amounted to one eighth of a house and one share was valued more highly, requiring a payment of 220 drachmas to equalize the arrangement. The document makes ancient property division unusually concrete.
