Two Brothers Register Two-Thirds of an Inherited House
On October 30, AD 226, Aurelius Herminus and his brother Theognostus wrote to the public archive keepers of Hermopolis to register two-thirds of a house with its courtyard and appurtenances. They had inherited the property from a paternal uncle who had died twenty years earlier. The complete Greek document preserves both family history and bureaucratic procedure.
