Fifteen Arouras Are Leased for Wheat, Barley and Lentils
On October 24, 73 BC, a one-year lease covered fifteen arouras of land at Sepho. Three arouras were to be sown with wheat while the rest were assigned to barley and lentils, with seed provisions recorded in the Greek contract. Dioscorus Pays His Poll Tax
On October 24, AD 136, Dioscorus son of Dioscorus paid eight silver drachmas and four bronze obols in poll tax. Souchion issued the Greek receipt. The document is small, but its exact amount and named taxpayer turn an abstract Roman tax into a payment made by a specific person on a specific day.
