A Police Official Accuses a Temple Priest of Assaulting Him
On September 30, 170 BC, Pocas, a police official, petitioned Numenius after accusing a priest of the temple of Suchus at Krokodilopolis of assaulting him. Pocas asked that the priest be summoned. The Greek papyrus preserves a striking clash between local policing, temple personnel and the petition system of Ptolemaic Egypt.
