Five Debtors Repay a 1,124-Drachma Loan Through a Bank
On September 10, AD 166, five debtors acknowledged repaying 1,124 drachmas to Serenus, also known as Claudianus, through the bank of Sarapion. The creditor formally stated that no further claim remained. The Greek papyrus preserves a recognizably modern combination of collective debt, bank-mediated payment and a written discharge confirming that the obligation had been settled.
