Harsiesis Buys Land at Pathyris
On November 1, 100 BC, Harsiesis, a priest of Suchus and Aphrodite, purchased land at Pathyris from Nechuthes. The surviving contract is badly fragmented, but a Demotic summary on the back confirms the bilingual documentary setting.

Event That Shaped History
The Council of Chalcedon Holds Its Final Session
On November 1, AD 451, the Council of Chalcedon held its sixteenth and final recorded session. The closing proceedings dealt in part with the standing of the see of Constantinople and brought one of late antiquity’s most consequential church councils to an end.
